We all have our go to makeup looks. The looks that we are comfortable with and that ultimately make us feel like we can take on the world. These looks are great especially when you want a pick me up or have very little time. Until there comes a time, when you are wanting a change. It is worth experimenting and exploring what other makeup looks you can wear.
Try one thing different each time you apply your makeup, whether it’s a different technique or a new product. This will give you the energy and excitement to try new looks. It pushes you out of your comfort zone. Better yet, try a colour you thought you would never wear or that you think will not suit you. You could surprise yourself and discover a new look that you ultimately love.
The products used for this look are as follows:
Lightful C Marine-Bright Formula Softening Lotion (MAC)
Prep + Prime Fix + (MAC)
Ultra Facial Moisturiser (Kiehl’s)
Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado (Kiehl’s)
Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation (MAC)
Pro Longwear Concealer (MAC) under the eyes
To set the foundation I used Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Powder in Light Plus (MAC)
Then to contour I love to use Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Powder in Medium Golden (MAC)
I used the absolute divine Beach Stick – Las Salinas (Charlotte Tilbury) on the cheeks. This has a wonderful cream texture and gives the cheeks a pop of colour.
Cream Colour Base in Pearl (MAC) I use this to highlight the high points of the face, I also like to apply this on my nose and cupids bow
I then intensified the highlight by using Mary Lou Manizer (TheBalm).
* Tip: For this particular look I prefer to do the eyes first as there will be fallout from the eye shadow which can become messy. Doing your base after will ensure your makeup is flawless.
Pro Longwear Paint Pot - Painterly Paint (MAC)
I used the Plum Eye Shadow Palette from Morphe
Use a blending brush and apply mauve from the palette in the crease
Then to add depth in the outer corner of the eye apply the dark purple
Then by using a flat eye shadow brush apply the bright purple over the eye lid
To intensify the colour, I added Violet Pigment (MAC) on the eye lid
In the inner corner I used the light purple in the palette to brighten
To intensify this, I used Warm Snow Pigment (MAC) only in the inner corner
Then apply Fluidline in Blacktrack (MAC)
Lash Blast Volume Mascara (Covergirl) on both top and bottom lashes
Edgy lashes (Ardell).
* Tip: Whenever I do a smokey eye I always use the same colours on the top of the eye and apply this on the lower lash line as well. This creates a stronger effect and also makes your eyes look bigger.
Clear Brow Gel (Anastasia Beverley Hills)
Brow Wiz in medium brown (Anastasia Beverley Hills)
* Tip: If you don’t like using a pencil use an eye shadow with an angled brush to define your brows. My personal favourites that I like to use are omega and charcoal brown from MAC.
Carmex to moisturise lips
Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in Posy Perfect (MAC)
Snob Lipstick (MAC)
* Tip: Apply lip pencil over your entire lip as this will make your lipstick last for a longer period of time.
